How Cost Effective Are Hybrid Cars?
There seems to be no stopping the oil companies, as the price at the pumps continues to rise to astronomical heights for a myriad of reasons, valid or not. Civil wars in Nigeria, international conflicts in Iraq, hurricanes and other storms at home and abroad are all reasons gas companies posit to defend their outrageous gouging. In the face of rising gas costs, many consumers are beginning to consider the option of a hybrid vehicle- one which operates on both gas and electricity. All of the models of hybrid car will save money in terms of gas expenditures, but are they really effective when all of the costs of maintenance and other considerations are factored in? Right off the bat, consider the cost of buying a hybrid vehicle. Depending on the model, hybrid vehicles can cost anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 more than the equivalent non-hybrid model. These prices need to be stacked up against the savings that a hybrid car owner would gain in gas, factoring in the mileage needed. One report by Edmunds, for example, shows that huge price increases in the cost of gas would need to take place, or the vehicle owner would need to put on some serious mileage, in order for the hybrid models to gain a sufficient price saving advantage when stacked up against initial purchases. The one exception in the study was the Toyota Prius, which compared very effectively in terms of initial cost with the Camry model. The consumer watchdog points out, however, that as the hybrid cars become increasingly more available as a reflection of demand the prices can be expected to drop, making them more cost effective when it comes to an initial investment. Also important to keep in mind is the fact that the hybrid cars have a much more specialized system than the standard vehicle, and will therefore require a more specialized mechanic when it comes time for any repairs. Most consumer report features consider hybrid cars to require an investment of at least five years in order to break even as far as initial costs go, and do not take into account the possibilities of damage that requires fixing to the power train of the vehicles. It seems as though, at least for the time being, the purchase of a hybrid vehicle for the average consumer may not be the best option when it comes to saving money. It is important to keep several things in mind, however, when considering purchasing a hybrid model. Many consumers are choosing to purchase these cars because they represent a significant development in terms of environmental concerns over standard models. They also mean that as a whole, Western nations will become less dependent on oil as the sole means of power. Finally, it is imperative to keep in mind that the hybrid car is a very new technology. Developed only within the last few years, the technology is still in the infant stages, where costs will continue to be high. Hybrid cars also have only a small percentage of the market right now as well. As time passes, the development of the hybrid technology will begin to push prices down to the point where hybrids are more than competitive with the traditionally fueled models of the past.
Advantages Of Diesel Engines
If you wanted to own a new car powered by a diesel engine or if you own one now, you no doubt appreciate the qualities this engine provides you with. More torque, better fuel economy, and easier maintenance are but a few of the attributes of owning diesel powered vehicles . However, there are some motorists that still complain about the engine’s weak power, especially when accelerating from a full stop. What you may not be aware of is the fact that a diesel engine can be tweaked to give more power without harming the fuel economy . New diesel engines cars use air compression to create combustion versus the fuel/air mixture that is required by gas engines. This attribute means that diesel engines don’t require spark plugs and therefore don’t need to be tuned up . Diesel fuel has a much high fuel density than gas, which results in fuel economy increases of 20 - 30% over gasoline powered vehicles . Diesel engines are also cheaper to maintain as they have less parts than that of a gasoline powered engine. The life span of a diesel engine is also much longer . If you’re looking for torque, for pulling a boat or other equipment, then the diesel engine has the supreme advantage. Diesel engines are surely slower, especially when starting from a dead stop, although when you climb hills or go over bridges, the diesel engine is surely up to the task . With new trucks, diesel is normally the leader over gas engines in terms of performance and miles per gallon. Diesel trucks will get more miles than gas trucks, and the price for diesel is a bit cheaper than gas these days . And with gas prices on the rise, diesel will continue to dominate for a long time to come . http://www.new-carpurchase.blogspot.comDiesel engines are also cheaper to maintain as they have less parts than that of a gasoline powered engine.

What A Body Lift Kit Can Do For You
Vehicle owners nowadays take extra effort in making the necessary modification to their vehicles just to maximize its performance. Body Lift Kit is one of the mostly needed vehicle kits for today. It doesn’t only trim up your vehicles for larger tires but it also gives them a brand new rugged look. You can spend some money on performance shocks or simple brackets to increase the height and jazz up the look of you rig. You can also ditch the stock springs and shocks to have a set of adjustable airbags; but the best addition you can make to your vehicle is give it a body lift . Small as they may be, these kits can make a big difference to your vehicles when used. Those who owned 4×4’s, trucks and SUV’s are likely the ones to install such performance parts. Raising the vehicle’s body provide better ground clearance which they really need especially when they take their rigs for off road driving and adventures. Lift kits aid drivers in their usual problems on jagged, uneven roads. They allow the installation of larger tires that do not only give your auto a more muscular look but also provide better weight support for big vehicles. Small, ordinary tires may not be able to handle a rough terrain that is why it’s important that you have these kits to give room for off road tires. Although a body kit is installed for best performance, it also comes with potential side effects. This vehicle handles differently from an ordinary vehicle in driving conditions which may occur on streets, highways and off road. The steering, braking and handling raised vehicle will differ from standard passenger cars and trucks. . If larger tires are installed the speedometer will read lower than the vehicles actual speed. Unnecessary sudden maneuvers, unexpected stops, sharp turns and other abrupt driving conditions could cause loss of vehicle control. You can roll over or encounter other accident that could result in serious injury or death to driver and passengers. That is why safety measures like reduced speed, seatbelts and careful driving should always be observed. There is an abundant online lift kit shops in the web. With just one click, you may readily purchase top of the line performance products of a particular brand and type.
Source: www.ArticlePros.com

Should I Buy An Extended Vehicle Warranty?
Whether you are purchasing a new or used car, breakdowns can occur. It?s always a worry that you could have major problems such as engine trouble or a transmission that stops shifting, and you suddenly are digging deep into your pockets for the cash to repair it. So the question that arises often is ?Should I Buy An Extended Vehicle Warranty?? There are always pros and cons. An extended vehicle warranty adds to your total cost, but over the long run it can also be very beneficial especially if a big breakdown occurs. A vehicle extended warranty is a contract between a vehicle warranty company and you. It isn?t an insurance policy even though most people think of it as one. It is actually the most profitable service a car dealer sells, but it can also be very beneficial to the consumer. When you buy a new car you get the manufacturers warranty. Then, for a specific fee, you can extend that warranty. If you tend to keep your vehicles longer than the period of the original warranty purchasing the extended warranty can make good sense. If however you tend to trade your vehicles in every few years, the purchase of the extended warranty would probably not be beneficial. When it comes to used vehicles, some dealers will offer a 30 day warranty and then offer to sell you an extended warranty. There are many companies that are now offering extended warranty coverage on used vehicles. Purchasing an extended warranty is a great way to give you peace of mind. You can protect your investment and your pocket book from unexpected costs. Extended warranties usually offer the same benefits as your new car warranty. This means that no matter where you travel within North America your warranty will cover you. Some extended warranties cover just the powertrain, while others cover bumper to bumper. Be sure to check with your dealer or read your policy. As an added bonus, almost all extended warranties offer 24 hour roadside assistance. Roadside assistance includes gas drops, flat tire changes, locksmith, and towing benefits. You may also get benefits such as vehicle replacement in the event of a breakdown along with accommodation expenses. Filing claims is a simple process. Many dealers simply require you to provide proof of coverage. Normally you are issued a coverage card. If you are dealing with your local dealership, chances are you are in their computer system. On used vehicles you usually are required to pay the costs and then submit the bill for reimbursement. Different plans have different deductibles. Don?t buy your extended warranty coverage by price alone. More doesn?t mean better; but then again cheap can mean that many repairs are exempt so read the fine print and read the entire policy carefully before signing on the dotted line. With so many companies offering extended warranty coverage online and through dealers, it?s important you are sure that the company is reputable. If your extended warranty comes from Ford or GM it?s pretty straightforward; but otherwise you?ll want to make sure you are dealing with a well funded company. Whether you should buy extended vehicle warranty coverage is really a personal choice, but good coverage can be beneficial. If there?s one thing for certain, vehicles will break down. It?s just a matter of when. Gray Rollins is a writer for automotive websites.

Beware! Don t get cheated in Gas stations
Nowadays everyone has their one vehicle either it may be car or bike, but this makes your need to visit gas stations everyday to fuel up. Since the fast growing automobile population and demand for fuel enriches the petrol pump revenues, there is another stream of underground cheats going around in both major and minor cities around Asia. The technique or cheat seemed to be a black trick way of stealing your valuable penny without your consent. According to my research more than 100 customers in each city have been cheated by this trick including me. These cheats have been playing around with or without the petrol pump owner s concern. No man is so foolish but he may sometimes give another good counsel, and no man so wise that he may not easily err if he takes no other counsel than his own. He that is taught only by himself has a fool for a master. Behind the scene: How actually these workers in gas stations cheat you? Its basically the mode of tactics that when you want to fuel up your vehicle for more than 100 rupees you tend to say in your usual low voice to fill up the tank for same but the worker intentionally seem like unheard and fills up the tank just for 40 or below. So you began to argue him that you wanted it up for 100 or something you asked. This time the worker just presses up a non functional button in the machine showing you up like he was tarring up the count but it remains the same and he fills up the other 60 rupees saying that he has already filled up for forty. You pay him 100 rupees for petrol worth 60 rupees. Also some of them turn your attention down by talking some interesting subjects turning your attention away from the counter. This is all happening because of poor technical knowledge and unawareness of the people. How to be protective from their cheats? Be narrow and cautious while in the petrol bunk and do aware about the counts in the machine. Be frank and bold to ask about your queries. Don t get diverted or give attention to their talks. Follow the quote Cut and Rate. This is your rights and no one s gonna kick you out. Feel free to complaint to the nearest police station or the petrol bunk owner about the cheat. If none of them works then blog about it like I do so that people will be aware about it.

Demystifying The Tire Sidewall Code
So, you need new tires for your car or truck, but how do you know what to buy? What do all those alphanumeric codes printed on the tire sidewalls mean, anyway? If you’re in the market for new tires, you may simply want to replace your worn tires with exactly the same tire it came with. But you MAY want to consider an upgrade. If you know how to read the tire sidewalls, chock full of valuable information, you’ve got an advantage over most people and are prepared to make an informed decision. So let’s get underway! Tire Size Markings (example: P215/65R15 89H) Broken down: P = Passenger Other designations are LT = Light Truck T = Temporary (spare tire) 215 is the width (in millimeters) of the tire from sidewall to sidewall. A wider tire has more grip but the bad news is that you lose fuel economy, hear more noise and the tires don’t work as well in the rain. 65 is the aspect ratio The aspect ratio is the ratio of sidewall height to tire width. With regards to aspect ratio, the larger the number, the taller the tire sidewall. Tall (60-75) is great for a quiet ride but causes howling in turns. Short (35-55) is better for handling–more for sports cars. R indicates Radial. This means it is constructed with a series of support belts sideways under the tread. Other designations include B for Belted Bias and D for Diagonal Bias The standard, and what you’ll see most often, is R. 15 is the wheel (or rim) diameter, in inches. 89 is the load index H is the speed rating Speed ratings indicate the top speed under ideal conditions. Higher-rated tires are usually made of softer rubber and will have shorter UTQG tread life. Here are a few of the more common speed ratings: R= 106, S=112, T=118, U=124, H=130, V=149, W=168, Y=186. Along with this speed rating, you have a load index which indicates the approximate weight the tire can carry. Some of the more common load weights are as follows: 85 = 1,135 pounds, 86 = 1,168 pounds, 87 = 1,201 pounds, 88 = 1,235 pounds. UTQG Ratings Passenger car tires are accompanied by a UTQG Rating (Uniform Tire Quality Grading, mandated by the Federal Government) which rates the tread life of tires by looking at tread wear, traction and temperature resistance. The UTQG Rating is usually found opposite the tire size markings and will be in three separate ratings: treadwear, traction and temperature. The treadware grade standard is 100. A grade of 200 means the tread would wear twice as well as a tire graded 100. Traction grades run from AA to C, with AA being the highest grade and C meaning the tire brakes poorly on both wet concrete and wet asphalt. Temperature grades rate the tire’s resistance to and ability to dispel heat. Those grades are A (resists heat well), B (not as good as A) and C (passes minimum safety standards.) Keep in mind that heavy loads, under-inflation of the tires, and high speeds can all affect the tire temperature. You should note that these tire grades rate tires measured under controlled conditions. Factors such as driving habits, road conditions, climate, etc., are not considerations and may affect the actual performance of your tire. DOT DOT (Department of Transportation) indicates the tire is in compliance with applicable DOT safety standards. Next to DOT is an identification or serial number–codes that designate where and when the tire was produced. You’ll also find other information on the sidewall such as the type and composition of the tire, the maximum cold inflation (PSI) and maximum load in pounds. So as you can see, tires carry a huge amount of information. But it’s really not all that complicated once you learn to read the code.
Tips On Buying Warranty For Used Cars
Used car buyers need to get their money?s worth as soon as their purchase has been confirmed. New or not, cars should have warranties. It is a right, not a privilege. The following are tips to better your chances of getting the best warranty for your money. Know what you are buying Some people who avail themselves of auto warranty coverage usually have a notion that they are purchasing a special shield that protects their vehicle from unnecessary wear and tear. Though this is true, this idea is primarily bound to a contract that the buyer should read prior to signing anything. There are instances when consumers buy a used car then expect the warranty company to get their cars back in shape for them. Buyers then unnecessarily file a complaint and get angry once their request is denied simply because their understanding of the conditions that constitute the warranty differs from what the warranty company has explicitly stated on their contract. It is advisable therefore to read in order to avoid uncalled for weeping. See through the ?lies.? Do not believe when auto warranty companies claim that their warranty can not be refunded. One hundred percent of extended car warranties are refundable within thirty days provided no claims have been made. If in any instance you feel that you were in some way forced to purchase or getl a Ford, Hyundai or Honda warranty that you didn?t want, do not hesitate to get your money back. Sift through their trashing If a warranty company has a good enough standing, it does not need to trash the competition or badmouth the other company?s warranty contract. You need to see them point out their own warranty company merits, offers and packages and not the competitor?s ?worthless? clauses in order to make a sale. Though it is a competitive world out there, the only way to stand out is to offer excellent and ethical service. In this case, action speaks louder than words. Avoid buying auto warranty from you dealer Though it is extremely convenient to do so, the effects are short-term. The price car dealers? offer for extended auto warranty, believe it or not, is usually two to three times higher than the normal rate. Plus, their contracts have far too many limitations and unfair clauses that buying warranties from first-rate warranty companies that provide better service for half the price, is a clearer and ? should be - the only option.
A Woman's Guide to Basic Tire Care
Women certainly are not helpless. But sometimes we are a little overwhelmed working a 40-hour week, taking care of the children, cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry. The car is just another added burden when there isn’t a man around to tinker with it. For the woman who finds herself in this situation, this is a short primer on routine tire care that will extend the life of your tires and hopefully make your life a little bit easier. Check Tire Pressure Regularly: Tire pressure should be checked whenever you suspect a problem or at a minimum, seasonally. Symptoms of improper tire pressure include excess wear and squeeling when going around a corner (for under-inflated tires) and reduced traction (for over-inflated tires). Even the temperature can affect your tire pressure. Check your owner’s manual to find where they’ve posted the proper tire pressure (usually on one of the doors) and be sure to keep it at that level. An improperly inflated tire not only wears quicker, it can also be dangerous when stopping and can cause tread separation. You can purchase a tire-pressure gauge at your local auto parts store, use a gauge at the gas station or ask your tire dealer to check it for you. Have Your Tires Rotated: Tires should be rotated every 5000 - 6000 miles. For various reasons, all four tires on a car do not wear the same. The purpose of the tire rotation is to allow for even wear and an extended life for your tires. Some manufacturers recommend “cross-rotation” (moving the right-front tire to the left-rear, etc.). Check your owner’s manual for it’s recommendations. Have your tire dealer rotate your tires regularly. Check Your Wheel Alignment: If you’ve hit a pothole or scraped your tire on a curb, your wheels may have been thrown out of alignment. Symptoms of wheels that are out of alignment are excessive wear (one tire may wear more than the others) and steering problems. You may notice that your car veers to the side when you’re on a straight road or the car doesn’t steer properly in a turn. Unless you notice any of these symptons, you should have your alignment checked annually. Have Your Wheels Balanced at the Same Time They’re Rotated: An improperly balanced wheel will cause a vibration at higher speeds (50-70 MPH) which is noticable in the steering wheel (if a front tire is out of balance) or in the seat (if a rear tire is out of balance). It will also increase wear of shock absorbers, struts and suspensions. If you notice any of these symptoms, you should have your tire dealer take a look. He will need to locate the heavier part of the tire and attach a lead weight opposite it to counter-balance it. Unless you notice any of these symptoms, you should have your wheels balanced every time you have them rotated (every 5000 - 6000 miles).

Gas Scooter Safety
By Flemming Andersen Having a gas scooter means that you need to take the necessary precautions and learn how to use it safely. You will need to be responsible and make sure that you do a few things before you decide to get on a gas scooter and ride.
Crude Oil: Black Gold or Black Menace?
With all the publicity nowadays surrounding the price of Crude Oil, I resolved to write an enlightening article on the backdrop of the so-called “Black Gold.” I’ll briefly go over history, environmental effects, pricing and the future of the thick black sludge that is coveted by every major economy in the world. Hopefully you can reach a better point of view on the subject. The history of Crude Oil is too immense to discuss in this brief editorial so I will limit it to a general overview. The first oil wells were drilled in China in the 4th century. They where as much as 243 meters deep and were drilled utilizing drill bits attached to bamboo poles. The contemporary history of crude began in 1846, with the breakthrough of the process of refining kerosene from coal by Atlantic Canada’s Abraham Pineo Gesner. The first rock oil mine was built in Bobrka, Poland the following year. These breakthroughs rapidly spread around the world, and Meerzoeff built the first Russian refinery in the mature oil fields at Baku in 1861. James Miller Williams in Oil Springs, Ontario, Canada in 1858, excavated the first commercial oil well drilled in North America. The American petroleum industry commenced with Edwin Drake’s discovery of oil in 1859, near Titusville, Pennsylvania. The industry matured slowly in the 1800s, driven by the demand for kerosene and oil lamps. It became a major national business in the early part of the 20th century. With the introduction of the internal combustion engine came a need that has largely sustained the industry to this day. While we all need to get to work in some way or another, rarely does anyone consider the environmental effects of the fuel that powers our mode of transportation. Yes we know that the emissions from are cars, buses and trains have a green house effect on our delicate environment; but what about the rest of our ecology? Oil extraction is costly and occasionally environmentally detrimental, although Dr. John Hunt from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution revealed in a 1981 paper that over 70% of the reserves in the world are associated with visible macroseepages, and numerous oil fields are found due to natural leaks. Offshore exploration and extraction of oil agitates the encompassing marine environment. Exploration could call for dredging, which stirs up the sea bottom, stamping out the ocean plants that nautical creatures need to survive. Not to mention the typical Crude Oil and refined fuel spills from tanker ship accidents. All of these factors have tainted frail ecosystems all over the world. Petroleum products are priced like most commodities: supply and demand. While this may sound simple, the actual start to finish process can be a lot more complex subject. References to oil prices are generally related to the spot price of either WTI/Light Crude as traded on New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). Priced by the barrel, Crude Oil is rapidly becoming the most costly commodity on the market (second only to Gold). Oil pricing is extremely reliant on both its grade and location. The vast majority of oil will not be traded on an exchange but on an over-the-counter basis, typically with reference to a standard crude oil grade that is quoted via a pricing agency such as Argus Media Ltd or Platts. It is often claimed that OPEC arranges the oil price and the real monetary value of a barrel of oil is in the area of $2, which is equivalent to the cost of extraction of a barrel in the Middle East. These appraisals of costs disregard the cost of finding and developing oil reserves. You can’t talk about the future of oil without talking about the “Hubbert Peak” oil theory. This hypothesis depicts the long-term rate of production of conventional oil and other fuels. It assumes that oil reserves are not replenishable. It also predicts that future world oil production must unavoidably reach a crest and then decline as these reserves are exhausted. Like every other theory of any importance it is highly controversial. “When will the Oil actually start to run out?” is the big question. No matter how you look at it, our society needs to concentrate more efforts on either alternative fuels or more fuel-efficient modes of transportation. While I’m sure that the oil won’t peter out in my life time I would like to think we can leave this world a better place for future generations. In closing, I hope this article has given you a better understanding of the topic and made you a more informed consumer.
Save some gas money
Conserving gas is not just a great way to save money, but is also our duty to the planet on which we live. You’ll be surprised to read how easy it can be. Keep it healthyOne of the main ways to keep your miles per gallon at their most optimum is to keep your car well maintained. Read your owners manual and follow the schedule it lays out for every thing from oil changes, to total system flush and overhauls. Many dealerships and service stations will remind their customers when it’s time to service their vehicle, taking the guesswork out of maintenance records. Ultimately a car in good condition runs better, requiring less gas to perform.Tire condition is another factor many people don’t consider. Keeping tires properly inflated will ensure that the engine doesn’t waste fuel and will prevent tire tread from wearing unevenly. Get more exerciseVery few people can honestly say they don’t need more exercise, we should embrace the high gas prices by walking and biking to all of our close destinations. Not only is this good for our bodies and the environment but on our wallets as well, it costs nothing to use our feet. Another easy option is living near work, whether it means relocating to eliminate a commute or by finding work close to your home. While it is not an option for many people it is important to weigh options, the cost of the commute could be the justifying factor to eliminate commutes from your life altogether. Membership and creditSome gas stations offer credit cards and/or programs that earn you money towards gas for every dollar you spend, instead of cashing in on those frequent flyer miles, try getting a break on gas instead. Over the long haul chances are it will save you money. Make wise purchasesIt should be a no brainer, but lets hope the next car you buy will be more fuel efficient and cleaner for the environment. Some of us will go super extreme and buy electric hybrids or attempt to turn a diesel into a bio diesel and eliminate the need for petrol. Others will buy smaller cars, and the new and used car market for smaller 4 cylinder vehicles will reflect this fact. Suddenly the safety that the bigger vehicles offer translates directly into money wasted on gas for many families. Plan aheadWasted trips use gas unnecessarily. Before leaving the house to run errands, be sure you have a list of everything you need to get accomplished. Taking a moment to establish the most effective route can save you dollars on wasted idle time and retraced steps. Most of the big search engines offer directions and maps giving the shortest route to your next destination. Note: None of the map services are known for their reliability so use them for guidance purposes only. Parking lotsParking lots are another place where people waste unnecessarily. Being idle is wasted gas, waiting for pedestrians to struggle with carts outside the grocery store wasted gas, waiting for parking spots wasted gas. Head directly to the back of the parking lot, there is more space, less pedestrians and allow for easy in and out because the area is not busy like closer to the store tends to be. It’s all about using common sense and keeping your machine in good running order. These things make sense on more than just a gas saving level, they will help extend the life of your vehicle in addition to keeping it as safe and clean for use as it can be. <b>About the Author:</b> My name is Paige Filler and I'm a creative writer with a love of all things that go vroom.

Referential Events In The History Of The Chevy 350 Engine
Having a unique, robust design, developing an impressive power and achieving a great overall performance, the 350 (5.7) Chevrolet Engine has quickly entered in history as one of the best and most reliable original car engines ever manufactured. In fact, the entire Chevy 350 Engine series is extremely popular among car enthusiasts, rapidly transforming Chevrolet into one of the most desired and highly respected Hot Rods not only in the United States, but also in many different corners of the world. In only a matter of years, the great features characteristic to the Chevy 350 Engine have rendered Chevrolet a prominent and competitive brand, establishing new trends in designing and manufacturing car engines. Much of today s popularity and prominence regarding the Chevrolet brand in general is strongly related to the initial success of the Chevrolet 350 Engine, as well as its gradual evolution into better performing and more powerful engines. The Chevrolet 350 Engine is almost identical in shape and size with its successor, the 400 HP LS2 Engine, another well-performing engine that is still manufactured today in various places in the world. Although the first small-block was first manufactured and equipped on Chevrolets in 1955, and other later released, improved models in the series were more powerful and performed a lot better than the 350 model, the Chevy 350 Engine has somehow managed to become a lot more desired and respected than both its predecessors and successors. The Chevy 350 Engine is by far the most equipped Chevy small-block, being extensively installed in sports cars, station wagons and even heavy trucks! The first step into history made by the Chevrolet 350 Engine was registered in 1968, when it was first installed in the series models Chevrolet Camaro and Chevrolet Nova, at that time producing at most 300 horsepower for the high performance models. However, the Chevy 350 Engine was successfully embraced by many categories of car enthusiasts, winning the appreciation of both novice and experienced car owners and drivers. Considered to be a success, by 1969 the Chevrolet 350 Engine was also being installed in various other Chevy vehicle lines such as the magnificent Corvette. Around 1969, the Chevy 350 Engine also began to suffer various modifications that would further increase its performance. By 1992, Chevrolet has released the Gen II LT1 350 Engine in models such as Corvette. The Gen II Chevy 350 Engine produced the highest horsepower ever reached by any Chevrolet small-block model. By 1993, the Gen II LT1 350 is modified and also installed in the Fourth-Generation Camaro Z28 and Firebird Trans Am. In 1996, the upgraded Gen II LT1 350 Engine, referred to as the LT4, became available as an option in Corvettes, the upgraded version quickly becoming popular among the series fans. http://www.hiperformer.com/chevy350/ - Visit our Chevey 350 Engine Repair Guide & Availability now.
How to Find a Trucking Job
The demand for truckers is very high, and it is relatively easy for most qualified truckers to find steady work. Nonetheless, some researchers estimate that as many of 15% of drivers, even those with extensive experience, get disqualified when applying for a trucking position. Why are so many truckers getting turned away if the need for trucker is so high? It all has to do with being organized. The key to landing a trucking job is being prepared and knowing what to expect when seeking a trucking job. Most often, truckers start the hiring process by speaking to a trucking recruiter. Recruiters frequently hire only for one company (the company they work for themselves), so it may be to your advantage to shop around and talk to a number of different recruiters to find the position that is the best fit for you. If you do speak with a number of recruiters, be sure to take notes so you can keep track of who said what. Never lie to a recruiter when seeking a trucking job. The truth will come out eventually and it is much better that you be completely honest from the beginning, even if it means disclosing some negative information, than to lie and get caught for it later. Recruiters will ask you for a variety of information, so be sure to have the following on hand: - A current, non-expired CDL with an accurate home address - Your work history for at least the last 3 years (some recruiters may want 5 or 10 years of history). If you have been unemployed for some of this time, you will need to provide solid professional references to account for this period. - The names and contact information for all of your former employers. - Proof of your work history including old W2 tax forms, reference letters, or DOT numbers. This information will be especially helpful if any of the companies you worked for previously have since gone out of business. - A copy of your driving record or MVR - Proof of eligibility to work in the United States. You will be required to complete an I-9 form upon hire, so be sure you have valid documentation to show that you are eligibly for hire. New Homeland Security regulations require that al commercial truckers undergo a background check prior to being hired. As part of this check, companies will pull any criminal records and copies of your Motor Vehicle Driving record from all states in which you have a driver s license (commercial or non-commercial). Companies will also see a copy of your DAC report which will reveal previous driving jobs, any accidents in which you were involve, and notes of any problems with former employers. If there is anything on your record that might be questionable, it is very important that you disclose this to the recruiter right away. It is much better to be professional and proactive upfront than to have the recruiter undercover some nasty information on their own. A potential employer is going to need to know about any incidents, or accidents, for at least the previous three years. Be sure to hold onto all incident records, including accident reports and tickets, so that you can provide this documentation if needed. Nearly all reputable companies will also require that you undergo a drug screening, so be prepared to certify that you are drug-free and take a drug test on the spot if you are offered a position. Your offer will be contingent upon the successful results of the test. If there is anything about your past (or current) medical health that might bring up concerns about your ability to perform your duties as a trucker, be prepared to show a doctor s note that releases you to work. Although, by law, recruiters cannot ask about your medical health prior to offering you a position, an offer can be rescinded if you are not able to certify your ability to do the job. If you have recently had a medical ailment, surgery, or are taking any sort of prescription medicine, chances are high that you will be required to present a medical doctor s release noted that you are cleared for commercial tractor trailer driving with no restrictions. Finally, be prepared to a road test and pass the necessary DOT physical upon receiving an offer. If you haven t been behind the wheel in a while, make sure you brush up on your driving skills. You will not get a second test to take the test if you fail it so you want to be sharp the very first time to step into the company s cab. Although the hiring process to secure a trucking job may be long and tedious, the payoff is well worth your effort. So if you ve made it though all of these steps successfully, congratulations. You re hired!Laura Adams is a qualified careers advisor with 11 years experience. <a href="http://www.Truck-Driving-Job.info">Truckers Jobs Information</a> - Resources, News, Tips and Views to help Truck Drivers find their next jobs. http://www.Truck-Driving-Job.info Copyright Truck-Driving-Job.info This article may be reproduced as long as the resource box and live links remain intact.
Source: www.ArticlePros.com

Study Finds Logger Truck Accidents Decline
Study Finds Logger Truck Accidents Decline A recent study conducted by the state of Washington found that the number of truck accidents involving log trucks has declined by 11 percent even as the number of accidents involving all commercial trucks increased by 15 percent over a two-year period. Commercial truck accidents are considered the most expensive and fatal vehicular accidents that can occur throughout the country. The ripple effects of a commercial truck accident can often be vast and devastating to victims, family members and friends. What are Commercial Trucks, Log Trucks? In the United States, commercial trucks, also commonly referred to as heavy trucks, are those vehicles used to transport cargo and weighing more than 26,001 pounds in which case a commercial truck driver’s license is also needed. Commercial trucks transport a number of goods and products across state lines and throughout the country including food supplies and logs and some are specifically designed for tasks such as mixing and moving concrete as well as transporting light trucks for military use. Researchers have reported that while the construction of commercial trucks continues to improve, the level of quality still remains well below the quality level of automobiles and it has been said that commercial trucks remain well below automobiles in quality due mainly to the fact that nearly 3/4 of all commercial trucks are custom built, causing inefficiencies in steamlining a commercial truck assembly line. However, a lengthy list of popular commercial truck manufacturers remains both worldwide and in America. The list of top manufacturers includes: * American LaFrance * Autocar Company USA * Crane Carrier Corporation * Chevrolet * Colet * Dodge * E-One * Freightliner * Ford * GMC * Hino * Isuzu * Kenworth * Mack Trucks * International * Nissan * Oshkosh * Ottawa Truck * Peterbilt * Pierce * Sterling Trucks * UD Nissan Diesel * Volvo Trucks * Western Star Logging trucks and log truck drivers are no different from commercial trucks or commercial truck drivers, however, the Washington study conducted by the Washington State University found that a small group of log truck drivers are often considered seasoned and experienced drivers of the dangerous profession, which may be attributing to the total decrease of log truck accidents. However, the study also noted that as these individuals begin to retire, not only will the logging industry suffer, but accidents may begin to increase instead of decrease. The study noted that, “rising costs, aging drivers and long hours of service” as well as “other factors that could affect safety and economic viability include the ongoing effects of deregulation, poor driver recruitment” could all become factors responsible for a potential increase of log truck accidents. Protecting Yourself from a Truck Accident Individuals who have been involved in a commercial truck accident are advised to seek medical assistance even if no signs or symptoms of an injury are present. Often, injuries sustained in a vehicular or commercial truck accident can remain unseen and may include internal bleeding or bruising, which could have fatal consequences on a victim if injuries are not immediately assessed and treated. In addition to consulting a medical professional and ensuring injuries are properly treated, it may also be advisable to contact an experienced commercial truck collision law firm. Receiving a free legal consultation on injuries derived from a truck accident can provide relief from stress or worry over medical bills or automotive debts associated with a commercial truck collision or a log truck wreck.Peter Kent is the best-selling author of 50 books and hundreds of articles for magazines and newspapers.
Buying A Used Car? Know The Basics
If you feel purchasing a new car is tricky, then buying a second hand car can be quite trickier. But don’t fret just yet–with these guidelines to keep you on track, that used car could be one of the sweetest deals you’ve ever had. Where to Look Snoop around. It pays to be on the lookout for owners wanting to shift to a newer model, and thus wanting to sell the car of your dreams. This is where your friends and family come in. Aside from referrals, they could more or less ensure that the price is reasonable and the car’s ownership history is satisfactory. Asking the Right Questions Why are the owners letting the car go? Make sure that they are not selling due to any major problems. How long have they owned the car? Given proper maintenance, a five to seven year-old car would generally be in good condition. What repairs have been done, or are currently needed? How’s the mileage? The lower the mileage, the better. However, a used car with more miles could be satisfactory, too. In this case, ask about the vehicle’s use. Was it a family car limited to city driving? Does the car come with a warranty? Take Note of the following: Body rust or holes are difficult to repair. A body panel rusting through is to be replaced. Different paint shades from one panel to another, peeling and cracked paint, or smudges on other car part indicates a poor re-paint job, which needs to be re-done. Threadbare tires, chipped or cracked glass, the electrical work and what’s beneath the hood should be given proper attention, too. Going Out for a Test Drive If it’s a manual car, the clutch shouldn’t slip. If the clutch slips, instead of being steady as it accelerates, the motor will be revved up as when using neutral. If this happens get yourself a new clutch!

Tips on How to Save Gas
Fuel economy-maximizing behaviors or more popularly known as gas saving tips have been at the forefront of most drivers’ concerns thanks to the looming oil crisis. Basically, it is defined as a set of methods that drivers can utilize, in order to optimize their automobile’s fuel economy. There are many ways that energy is spent needlessly through driving. These include inefficient engine use, aerodynamic drag, friction, excessive braking, and many more. However, there are two general categories on how to save gas, which can be either basic or advanced. The former can be done by most drivers with little or no professional help, while the latter ought to be done by an experienced hypermiler. Basic Techniques The first thing that every driver should do in order to improve gas mileage is to inflate the tires to the maximum. This way, a smaller amount of energy is needed to move the automobile. In line with this, there should be minimum cargo as much as possible to remove the burden off the engine. Additionally, maintaining optimum speed should help significantly, which is usually measured in the 35 to 55 mph range. Aside from that, the driver should also pay attention to braking and acceleration. That means braking and acceleration should not be sudden and they should be minimized as much as possible. Another way to save gas is through coasting. That means the engine is still running, although the transmission is set to neutral. Bear in mind that fuel is still consumed when coasting, although far less than the driver would in normal driving conditions. These basic techniques are recommended for the average user and these are also far simpler to execute as opposed to the advanced techniques that are discussed below. Advanced Pulse and glide is one of the most commonly used fuel saving tips by the advanced hypermiler. This method consists of driving to a certain speed limit called pulsing, which is then followed by a period of gliding. These two steps are repeated in order to maximize fuel economy. However, it is advised that the gliding stage should be done when the engine is not activated. Another sophisticated fuel saving tip is called drafting, which is otherwise known as slipstreaming. This technique involves two or more vehicles that are aligned in a close group, in order to decrease the overall effect of drag. This happens because the lead vehicle’s slipstream is utilized by the ones that follow it. Drafting is an effective way to increase gas mileage both for the lead and tail automobiles. Most hypermilers use this method when trailing larger vehicles and has was shown to increase Miles Per Gallon(MPG) efficiency by at least 11 percent. Overall, it is imperative for each driver to learn different ways on saving gas without having to spend on another part or accessory to accomplish it. However, enough caution ought to be considered whenever these techniques are used to prevent accidents or costly engine damage.
Source: www.ArticlePros.com

Are Radar Detectors Legal in the US and in which States are they Prohibited?
A good number of the people with cars in the United States have their own radar detectors. Their reason is that they feel that the speed limit at present is very low. Most of the American people are not satisfied with moderate speed while driving. They want to be the fastest driver on the road as well as get to the places they re going in record time; they want to be always in the race. The radar detector serves as their alarm whenever there are police near them. Once the radar detector alarm sounds, they can ease on the gas and slow down their speed. Because of the radar detectors being known to every motorist, cops are hiding, in alleyways or behind bridges in order to avoid being detected by the radar detectors. Motorists on the other hand are being clever themselves, they are aware of these techniques from the police, so more enhanced, top-dollar detectors have entered the market. Though the policemen are always improving their chances of catching the radar detector users, they are unable to make the streets of the United States radar detector-free. Radar detectors are legal in many cities and states in the United States. But this does not mean that radar detector units are legal in all of the states in the US. Here are some of the states that deem radar detectors illegal: 1. The usage of radar detectors are prohibited in the Commonwealth of Virginia. They have laws banning the use of radar detectors. Not only are radar detectors illegal to use in Virginia, they are also illegal to have in the vehicle. 2. Radar detectors and radar jammers are illegal in the District of Columbia. The passing of their laws to ban the use of radar detectors was set in 1995. 3. In Illinois, radar detectors are only regulated in commercial vehicles of over 26,001 pounds. 4. On US military bases, they are legal to have but illegal to use. 5. Radar jammers are illegal in the states of Utah, California, Oklahoma, Colorado and Nebraska. 6. Radar detectors are not specifically regulated, but things hanging from windshields are not permitted in the state of Minnesota. 7. For motor vehicles over 18,000 pounds and any other commercial motor vehicles over 10,000 pounds in New York, radar detectors are illegal. And other states that prohibit the use of radar detectors are the following: Alabama Arizona Arkansas Colorado Delaware Florida Georgia Idaho Indiana Iowa Kansas Kentucky Louisiana Maine Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Mississippi Missouri Montana Nevada New Hampshire New Jersey Mew Mexico North Carolina North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania Rhode Island South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas Vermont Washington Wisconsin Wyoming The state of Connecticut on the contrary has cancelled its anti-radar detector law in 1998 which make this radar detector now legal in this state.Nicola Kennedy publishes articles and reports and provides news, views and information about <a href="http://www.radar-detecting.info">radar detectors</a> at Radar Detecting Information.
Lemon Laws - Documentation Is The Key
There is nothing worse than realizing that the vehicle you purchased is not running the way it should, and in fact this can be downright dangerous. Fortunately, all states have a lemon law which allows consumers to address financial and legal issues that may result if they have bought a defective automobile. A vehicle may be considered a lemon if it continues to have a defect that substantially impairs the vehicle?s use, its value or your safety. Generally, if the car has been repaired 4 or more times for the same defect within the warranty period, and the defect has not been fixed, the car qualifies as a lemon. ?Lemon? is not a term that can be applied simply because you no longer like certain aspects about your car, and it does not refer to all defects the vehicle may have. If the transmission doesn?t work, the car won’t go into reverse, the rear door opens all by itself, the driver’s seat wobbles, or the car can?t reach minimum required highway speed, then you may have a lemon. It is essential however, that the dealer has been given an opportunity to correct the problems before the courts will determine the automobile is a lemon. In most states, ten different defects during the warranty period won?t classify the car as a lemon. In some states, a single defect that might cause serious injury could qualify your car as a lemon; if the manufacturer hasn?t fixed the problem after 1 repair attempt. If you think you may have purchased a lemon car, the key to winning your case is documentation. Keep any receipts and records for the repair of the defects in your vehicle, and any receipts pertaining to the vehicle?s breakdown (such as cab fare). Retain any notes you write to the company, as well as names of employees you have talked to about the problems. Any costs or problems caused by the buyer?s neglect or abuse will be specifically excluded by State Lemon Laws. Purchasing a lemon is an unfortunate but not irreparable circumstance if you follow the correct lemon law procedures. Be diligent with your documentation, even during the frustration. Read your state?s lemon law and follow the documentation requirements to the letter. If you must hire an attorney, this will not only save you tremendous time, but some States provide some portion of attorney?s fee in lemon law resolutions. copyright?2006 conferencewebs.net. No problem! Go to your nearest repair shop and they can order you the part you need They have a sophisticated database that allows them to search for any part .Its amazing the network they have for finding parts to replace on cars before they sell them They take pride in their work and like to make sure everything is in good working order before they sell The certified inspectors make sure everything will pass the rigid guidelines in each country They have it down to a science the way they can take a car apart and get it ready for shipping anywhere in the world . . .They ship the parts in bins on large cargo ships The containers are anywhere from 20 to 40 ft long and they fill them with bumpers, fenders, half cars, and bins of various parts all headed to the salvage yards just waiting to be pick out to repair your vehicle Just like new once the body shop is done with the paint job you would never know there were two different pieces to this car when it started .
Source: www.rsstnx.com

Bangalore traffic - a Glorious approach for Smooth Traffic system
Bangalore is the dream city of almost every Indian citizen. Bangalore is something very special place developed on the hilly region of Karnataka in southern India. The climatic condition and topography of Bangalore makes it more special. As usual when there is more publicity, development of infrastructure, more job Opportunities and various other indirect factors affects the Migration of population and hence the weight on the Infrastructure, road, and traffic is caused. Similar is the case with the Bangalore city. In recent past there has been a tremendous Development took place in the silicon city of India called Bangalore .Consequently the effect on the infrastructure is quite visible. Earlier in Bangalore, I never have seen such a wild and congested traffic but now the case is quite different. In nut shell , it is Quite logical to say that there has been very less development took place in infrastructure , roadways, traffic system etc compared to the Volume Of development took Place in other sectors Like in Industries , Establishment of various research & software design centre etc . Time is Not far away when the people of Bangalore will have to face all sorts of Road traffic problem as it is now seen in various metros Like In Delhi , Calcutta , Mumbai etc . Moreover one good news for the People of Bangalore is that recently few weeks back all the prominent Business leaders, academician and Research scholars met in the city along with the chief minister courtesy times Now, Media partner, to evaluate the development of Bangalore city and the steps required to take to met the growing demands of the population, improve the infrastructure . Moreover, to make the Bangalore city redefined and reshaped to face the challenge of new emerging hi-tech metro city of India. The work has just begun. I am feeling quite satisfied and happy to see the nature and cool temperament of the inhabitants of the City of Bangalore. This gives me a good hope at last there is one city where we can Say road rage is obsolete word in this city traffic. I hope my dream and every one s dream of turning Our Beautiful Bangalore into an ultra modern world Class City for its inhabitants will come true very soon. The dream is not far away if it is really implemented as promised by the respective Karnataka go government.
Accidents? What Do You Do?
Accidents could happen anytime. In fact, even if you are the careful driver or even if you are the reckless driver, you could actually meet accidents on the road. Sometimes, it even happens right on your street just as you are pulling away from your garage. What do you do when you get involved and be part of a traffic accident? According to the Consumer Protection Association of America, they are continually developing a list of suggestions to help drivers anticipate what they actually need to know when they have to deal with a traffic accident. This organization is also continuously increasing public awareness on traffic safety. The president of the association, Dr. Ray Bruce, state, These tips (on dealing with accidents) can make a big difference in everything from protecting yourself and your passengers to ensuring that you won t be without a car while yours is in the shop. Always have an emergency kit in your glove compartment. This should include a cellular phone, a pen, a paper, and a disposable camera. These would be to take important information about the scene. There should also be a card carrying information about your medical allergies or conditions that may require special attention. In the trunk, there should also be cones, warning triangles and emergency flares. If you are involved in minor accidents and there are no serious injuries, move your cars to the side. Do not stay on the road and bother oncoming traffic. If you do such a thing, chances are that there might be more traffic accidents headed your way because of your vehicles obstructing the road. On the other hand, if the car cannot be moved, make sure that you warn other motorists by setting out your hazard lights, cones, flares, or warning triangles. Exchange information with the other parties involved. Exchange names, addresses, phone numbers, insurance companies, policy numbers, drivers license numbers, and license plate numbers. Also, take down the description of each car, the year, make, model, and color. The location of the collision and how it happened should also be recorded. If your vehicle needs some replacement parts, you can actually get them for low prices at Auto Parts Online which specializes in Jeep parts although there are other vehicle parts available as well.
Trade'r in? Yup! Nope! Whaaat?
When trading a vehicle there are four categories that will clearly affect the value of your vehicle; (1) Current market value. This is an adjustment amount to the book value that is made by the vehicle appraiser and occurs when there are real time changes in the market that are not readily reflected in current book values. One powerful example is the energy crisis that came along in the fall of 1973. Many consumers panicked (mildly) and began trading their gas hogs for fuel efficient smaller vehicles. As the extent of the crisis and its duration were unknown, and there were no real predictions as to the short and long term effects, most dealers looked on the gas hogs with an eye of concern, specifically in relation to their dollar value. I counseled many buyers during that time, encouraging them to be patient and wait it out. Most of them, nearly all, traded anyway. They received as little as 50% of the book value for their gas hogs and paid over retail in many cases to purchase a fuel efficient vehicle. Many of those people returned to the market within a short period of time and traded their fuel sippers for gas hogs. Again, values were adjusted to allow for the glut of small vehicles on the dealers lot. There are always current market value adjustments whether just at a dealership, in a city, an area, a state, a region, or across the country. These adjustments may be as simple as a dealership being overstocked with used vehicles due to some internal problem; therefore the dealer has to pay less for vehicles currently being traded in. An area may be affected by an economical crisis that overall affects the consumers ability or willingness to spend money. Wars and rumors of war have a strong negative effect on vehicle values, as does the price of fuel. One major factor that affects the value of trade-ins are the deals being offered on new vehicles. The greater the deal on new, the less is paid for the trade. Why? Used vehicle buyers will step up to new vehicles and pass on the late model used vehicles. In many cases payments on a new vehicle may be roughly the same as a one year old used. Additionally, consumers may determine that they are better off trading their current vehicle sooner than intended, taking advantage of the factory incentives, and driving off in a new vehicle with payments close to where they were, and offsetting maintenance expenditures in the process. (2) Dealership attitude. Vehicle values may be affected simply by some issue within a dealership. An inexperienced Used Vehicle Department manager, a poor cash flow in the dealership, a weak sales force not selling vehicles, and other situations. One thing learned when purchasing at an auction, talking with a wholesaler, or shopping a trade-in to another dealership is that prices vary widely across the board. Realistically I have witnessed value swings by as much as $2000.00. (3) Dealership wants. In some circumstances a dealer may not want your trade. You might have a very expensive trade, the dealer does not want to tie up money in a slow seller and the dealer cannot find a home for it with another dealer. Therefore to make a deal he will hit the trade low expecting to find a home for it at the auction, with another dealer, or attempt to cheap sell it on his own lot. Regardless, the vehicle may bring several thousand dollars below book, your loss. (4) Dealership need. The dealership may not need “another one of those”. Some vehicles are a glut on the market. An example would be the dumping of a rental car fleet at the auction, everyone buys them, everyone has one, and no one needs another one. Dealership want and dealership need may also swing in your favor. There were many times that I paid over book (more than $1200.00) to own a vehicle, knowing that if I did not, someone else would, and I would miss the sale on three vehicles; (1) my vehicle, (2) the trade-in, and (3) the trade-in on that one. Instead of missing business, I would make three profits. It should be clear that; (1) you must know the value of your vehicle to do business with it; (2) the book value is affected by other circumstances, some of which are beyond your control. However, because you know the value of your vehicle you have an idea of where you should be, and by shopping more than one dealership (if you don’t get the value up front) there is a very good chance you will get your money. It is absolute that you use a professional source to determine the value of your vehicle prior to shopping for your next vehicle. If you had a wad of $10.00 bills in your pocket, a big wad, and you wanted to trade them for $50.00 bills, and if you had never counted them, how would you possibly know how many $50.00 bills to get in return for your 10’s? Would you just throw them out there and take back whatever 50’s were offered? Or would you count them ahead of time, separate them in $50.00 packets, band all the packets together, and put in writing the total amount of all the packets, put that slip of paper with your packet, and put one in your pocket? Would you then watch as the other party counted your 10’s, and as the 50’s were counted out for you? Wise folks count their money first, record the amount, and observe while others handle their money!
